Description. The Peek-A-Poo breed is a cross between Poodle and the Pekingese dog, originating in the United States circa 1950’s. This breed is known for being a companion dog with deep-rooted loyalty and affection for their owner. It’s cotton-like coat is what sets this bred apart from the rest.

Coat: The coat of a Peek-A-Poo is medium to long length with wavy hair that is soft. The texture has been compared to that of cotton.
Temperament: The Peek-A-Poo dog breed is a loyal, loving and affectionate addition to the family. With a gentle and kind personality, this dog is a crowd favorite and loves being the center of attention. These dogs are equally happy hanging out with their owner indoors and playing fetch with the family outdoors. As long as they are around those who treat them with respect, they are happy and energetic pups. With Children: Peek-A-Poo dogs are very trustworthy and gentle with children. They love being around people who can keep up with their energy and younger members of the family have that covered. With Pets: With early socialization, the Peek-A-Poo dog breed can mingle with other breeds. This breed tends to get suspicious of new pets but this can be combated with frequent trips to the dog park and having visitors over often.

History: The Peek-A-Poo is one of the oldest designer dog breeds, originating in the United States circa the 1950’s. These dogs came into existence before the term “designer dog” was coined. The Peek-A-Poo is the cross of purebred Pekingese dogs and purebred Miniature or Toy Poodles. Originally, Peek-A-Poos were bred to be a low-shedding, hypoallergenic companion dogs. The breed gained popularity by the early 1960s and is still a popular breed today.
